UMED SHAKTI is a women centric empowerment initiative designed to foster self reliance through stitching and tailoring skill upgradation. The program trains 50-60 women from rural communities, enabling them to generate sustainable livelihoods while balancing domestic responsibilities. By promoting vocational skills, self employment, social awareness, and market linkage, UMED SHAKTI follows a bottom up, inclusive development approach—paving the way for economic independence, dignity, and long term empowerment for women and their families.
The project operates in a predominantly rural area where
most women and girls are engaged in household responsibilities, have limited
access to higher education, and remain economically dependent on male family
members. UMED SHAKTI addresses these challenges by empowering women through
skill‑based vocational training (stitching and tailoring) and social awareness.
Key objectives of the program include:
Since 2022, the program has trained over 60 women, with
approximately 15 women currently engaged in regular income‑generating work,
helping them move toward financial independence and a more sustainable
livelihood.
