Environmental sustainability lies at the heart of all our initiatives and is deeply aligned with our mission. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and encouraging environmentally responsible lifestyles within the communities we serve. Our sustainability efforts include regular tree plantation drives, and the UMED Mayech Ghar, which has been designed and operated as a fully environmentally sustainable facility.
Tree Plantation Drives
Located in the hilly regions of the Sahyadri mountain range,
the UMED Foundation campus provides a natural setting for meaningful tree
plantation efforts. Beyond planting, we focus on nurturing saplings until
maturity. To date, we have successfully grown over 150 trees and continue to
expand our green cover year after year.
“Mayech Ghar” – A Fully Environmentally Sustainable
Facility
Mayech Ghar stands as a model of environmental
sustainability. The facility is equipped with rainwater harvesting systems, a
fully installed solar power setup that meets our energy requirements, recycling
of wastewater and a biogas plant for waste management. Additionally, we
maintain our own farm where organic vegetables are grown, reinforcing our
commitment to self‑sufficiency and eco‑friendly living.
